Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships is proud to announce the addition of Berger Family Dealerships in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania. Berger Family Dealerships is a second generation family dealership celebrating 95 years of proud service to the Greater Hazleton Region.              

The sale brought together a pair of businessmen who have known each other for a quarter-century through the Pennsylvania Automotive Association.

Owners Earl C. Berger and Blaise Alexander met to complete a deal through which Berger's 62 employees will retain their jobs.

Berger Family Dealerships has won the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award and has sponsored  and contributed to countless families in need, charities, food drives, and local events. The dealership began in 1921 as Wright Motor Sales Co. and has been family-owned since.

Founded by James P. Wright, the business passed to John H. Wright and then to John H. "Jack" Wright Jr., who retired in 1994 when Berger took ownership.

Berger Family Dealerships "is a perfect fit" with Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships because of its brands and location on the eastern end of Blaise's sales region.

Since opening his first dealership in 1980, Blaise Alexander has acquired dealerships in Bloomsburg, Mansfield, Selinsgrove, Sunbury, Muncy, Greencastle, Philipsburg, State College, Lewisburg, Williamsport and Montoursville. Including a leasing company and part-time workers, his dealerships employ 1,162 people and have more than 30 franchises beneath 18 roofs.

Blaise has transferred some of the family operations over to the second generation. His son, Adam, is currently the Chief Operating Officer. Adam and his wife, Angie, are raising their three children in Montoursville. Blaise's youngest son, Aubrey, oversees the new construction and building maintenance of all the dealerships. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two young daughters and a new son, and reside in the Muncy area. Blaise's daughter, Maureen, is a self-employed acupuncturist living in Santa Monica, CA with her husband Conor.

Family has been the cornerstone of the Alexander Dealerships. From the start, Blaise likened sitting around the kitchen table with family to sitting around a table in the showroom with his customers. Most days you can visit any location and find a member of the Alexander family on premise.

By adding the 3 Hazleton area dealerships, Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, which has been family owned and operated for over 38 years, will now have 18 dealerships with 28 manufacturers throughout PA.

"We're trying to bring buying power," Alexander said. Getting the make, model and color of vehicle that a customer wants will be easier for new vehicles or within his inventory of 3,500 used vehicles.

Alexander bought many of his dealerships when owners retired, as Berger is doing, and noted that two generations of Berger's family will remain at their jobs.

One of them is Jeffrey Berger, the vice president of his family's dealership, who said customers in Hazleton "will save money and have more choices" without having to leave the area to make a purchase.

The companies' similarities helped bring about the sale.

"The Alexander family has the same values," Jeffrey Berger said.
